(HUE)nique Self
Joel Kiggundu
(HUE)nique Self showcases a spectrum of thirty-six photographs that exhibit individuality and self-expression through a series of six colors by utilising monochromatic fashion and color representation. The following colour schemes and symbolisms in the images include: Red (Love), Yellow (Joy), Green (Growth), Blue (Cool), Purple (Royalty), and Pink (Femininity).
Six individuals come together in establishing an identity that not only embodies the symbolisms of each hue, but also strengthens their own unique characteristics. Through gesture and setting, each color comes with open and distinct narratives which aim to challenge the viewer’s perception towards those within the frames through cultural and societal significance, while also creating space for more diverse representation.
